  1. The number of vacancies and their composition are tentative and subject to change
  2. Posts specified at Sl. No. 1 & 2 are State-wide cadres, posts at Sl. No. 3 to 15 are circle-wise cadres and posts from 16 to 21 are division-wise cadres.
  3. Posts at Sl. No. 1 & 2 are classified as Group-B posts and Reservation to Project Displaced Candidates and Physically Handicapped Candidates in these cadres is not applicable.
  4. Reservation to Physically Handicapped candidates is not applicable to the maintenance cadres specified at Sl.Nos.11 to 21.

In addition to the basic pay, dearness allowance and other applicable allowances will be paid as prescribed from time to time.

ELIGIBILITY TO APPLY:

I MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION:

  1. Asst. Engr. Elec.: Should have a degree in Electrical/Computer/Electronics/Telecommunication/ Communication Engineering of a Recognised University or equivalent qualification or a pass in AMIE Sections A&B (Electrical).
  2. Asst. Engr. Civil.: Should have a degree in Civil Engg. of a Recognised University or equivalent qualification or a pass in AMIE Sections A&B (Civil).
  3. Junior Engr. Elec./Store Keeper Gr.II : Should have a Diploma in Electrical /Computer/Electronics/Telecommunication Engineering of a Polytechnic of the State of Karnataka or equivalent qualification.
  4. Asst. Draughtsman: Should have a certificate in Draughtsmanship(18/24 months course after passing 10th Standard) from Industrial Training Centre
  5. Meter Reader/Operator/Overseer/Asst. Store Keeper: Should have passed 10th standard examination and should possess any one of the following certificates recognised by the department of employment and training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by National Council for Vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt.of India;
  6. A pass certificate of ITI of 18/24 months course in Electrician or Telecommunication or Electronics from the Karnataka Govt. recognised Industrial Training Institute/Centre

    OR

    A pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade / Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd.

  7. Assistant: Should be a graduate in Commerce or Science or Arts or Law of any recognised University, preference being given to graduates in Commerce.
  8. Junior Assistant : Should have PUC qualification or passed equivalent examination or diploma in Accountancy & Auditing or in Accountancy & Costing awarded by the State Council of Vocational Education, Govt. of Karnataka.
  9. Typist: Should have passed SSLC or equivalent examination and passed;
  10. Senior Grade Examination in Kannada Typewriting, OR

    Junior Grade Examination in Kannada Typewriting & Junior Grade Examination in Kannada Shorthand

    conducted by the Govt. of Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board. Candidates who know typing in English in addition to Kannada are desirable.

  11. Daftary: Should have passed 9th Standard examination and should have knowledge of reading and writing Kannada.
  12. Office Attendant Grade-II : Should have passed 7th Standard examination and should have knowledge of reading and writing Kannada.
  13. Driver Grade-II : Should have passed 7th Standard examination, should possess heavy vehicle driving license, should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write, should have a minimum experience of 3 years in driving heavy vehicles, should have satisfactory physical fitness and mental ability with good vision(without glasses), minimum height of 160 cms, minimum weight of 50kgs.
  14. Cleaner/Auto Helper: Should have passed 7th Standard Examination, should have satisfactory physical fitness and mental ability, should have knowledge and ability to read and write Kannada, should possess light motor vehicle driving license.
  15. Watchman: Should have passed 7th Standard Examination, should have satisfactory physical fitness and mental ability, should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write. Preference will be given to Ex. Servicemen.
  16. Sanitary Worker: Should have passed 7th Standard Examination, should have satisfactory physical fitness and mental ability, should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write.
  17. Mali Grade-II : Should have passed 7th Standard Examination, should have satisfactory physical fitness and mental ability, should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write. Should have experience of one year in the job, should have a Certificate of Gardening/Nursery.
  18. Assistant Lineman: Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India.
  19. Station Attendant Gr.II : Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India.
  20. Attendant Gr.II (TCD): Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India.
  21. Attendant Gr.II (MT): Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India.
  22. Helper (Stores) : Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India. Candidates should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write, should have normal eye sight, should have satisfactory physical fitness.
  23. Helper (Workshop) : Should have passed 10th Standard examination and should have a pass certificate of 3 years Lineman Trade/Electrician Trade imparted by the Industrial Training Institute of the Karnataka Power Transmission Corporation Ltd. recognised by the Department of Employment and Training, Govt. of Karnataka under National Apprentice Scheme conducted by the National Council for vocational Training, Ministry of Labour, Govt. of India. Candidates should have knowledge of Kannada to read and write, should have normal eye sight, should have satisfactory physical fitness.

Persons who do not possess the above qualification meant for the respective posts need not apply. The marks obtained in higher qualifications if any possessed by the candidates other than the prescribed minimum qualification will not be considered for the purpose of drawing the merit list of the candidates.

II RESERVATION FOR SCHEDULED CASTE / SCHEDULED TRIBE CANDIDATES:

Candidates shall enclose the Caste Certificates as prescribed by the Government in Govt. Order No. SWD 40 BCA 95 dated. 08.02.1995.

 

III RESERVATION FOR RURAL CANDIDATES:

Candidates desirous of claiming reservation under rural quota should submit a Rural Study Certificate in the format prescribed by the Govt. from the Head Master of the respective school/s for having studied in rural areas in the form prescribed by the Government, duly counter signed by the Block Education Officer.

In respect of posts where the qualification prescribed for recruitment is higher than 10th Standard the certificate should be for having studied from 1st to 10th Standard in rural areas.

In respect of posts where the qualification prescribed for recruitment is lower than 10th Standard the certificate should be for having studied from 1st Standard upto the relevant Standard in rural areas.

 

IV RESERVATION FOR PHYSICALLY HANDICAPPED PERSONS:

Physically Handicapped candidates should furnish a certificate from a Govt. Medical Officer not below the rank of District Surgeon indicating the nature and percentage of disability.

 

 

V RESERVATION FOR EX.SERVICEMEN (EX-MILITARY PERSONNEL)

Ex-Servicemen candidates should furnish the Discharge Certificate for having served in the Indian Armed Forces.

 

VI RESERVATION FOR PROJECT DISPLACED PERSONS

Candidates desirous of claiming reservation under Reservation for Project Displaced Persons shall furnish necessary documents/certificate as prescribed by the Govt.

VII COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE:

Candidates applying for the posts specified at Sl.No. 1 to 8 above should have knowledge of a minimum of any 2 Word Processing or Data Base computer software packages or they should acquire knowledge/training in these packages at their own cost within a period of 3 months from the date of offer of appointment.

 

VIII MODE OF SELECTION:

In respect of the posts specified at Sl.No. 1,2 & 3 an oral interview will be conducted to the eligible candidates in the ratio of 1: 5 . The ratio of marks between the academic qualification and oral interview will be taken in the ratio of 95:5 .

Recruitment to the posts specified at Sl.No. 4 to 10 and 12 to 15 will be made purely on merit on the basis of the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination.

In respect of the posts specified at Sl.No.11 viz., Driver Gr.II a Trade Test will be conducted for the eligible candidates in the ratio of 1:5. The ratio of marks between the academic qualification and the Trade Test will be taken in the ratio of 75:25.

In respect of the posts specified at Sl.No. 16 to 21 an Endurance Test will be conducted to the candidates in the ratio of 1:5. The ratio of marks between the academic qualification and the Endurance Test will be taken in the ratio of 90:10.

 

 

IX PROBATION:

Selected candidates will be placed on probation for a period of One Year which may be extended to Two years. During the period of probation they should maintain good conduct, punctuality in attendance and aptitude for learning the job.

The candidates selected to the posts specified at Sl.No. 1 to 7 should undergo training on appointment conducted by the Corporation and pass the test at the end of the training. The candidates should also pass the Kannada Language Test or should obtain exemption from passing the same as per regulations.

 

X AGE:

Candidates should not be below 18 years and not more than 40 years as on the last date prescribed for receipt of applications.

Under this special recruitment drive preference will be given to candidates aged between 29 years and 40 years, where sufficient number of eligible candidates are not available in the age group of 29 to 40 years then the insufficient number of candidates will be selected from among candidates between 18 years to 29 years.

For Ex-Servicemen (Ex-Military Personnel) the maximum age limit is relaxable by 3 years plus the number of years of service rendered by them in the Armed forces of the Union of India but not exceeding 45 years of age as on the last date prescribed for receipt of application.

For candidates already in service in KPTCL a relaxation in the upper age limit will be given to the extent of service rendered in KPTCL subject to a maximum of 7 years.

 

XI REGISTRATION FEE:

The candidates shall enclose along with their applications, Crossed Indian Postal Order or Demand Draft on any Scheduled Bank drawn in favour of General Manager(Admn.&HRD), KPTCL, Bangalore for the amount indicated below:

A) For the posts specified at Sl. No. 1 & 2 Rs.50/- (Fifty only)

B) For the posts specified at Sl. No. 3 to 10 Rs.25/- (Twenty five only)

C) For the posts specified at Sl. No. 11 to 21 Rs.15/- (Fifteen only)

NOTE: Cash payments or Money Order or Treasury Challans or Cheques or Court Fee Stamps, Revenue or Postal Stamps will not be accepted.

 

XII LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATION:

The completed applications along with all enclosures shall be sent by post so as to reach the following address by 4.30 p.m. on or before 31st May 2002.

XIII GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Applications must be in the prescribed format and complete in all respects.
  2. Applications must be accompanied by the following:
  • Self attested passport size photograph affixed on the application.
  • Self attested Copy of Transfer Certificate or Marks Card or Extract of Cumulative School Record .
  • Self attested copies of marks cards of qualifying examination,
  • Self attested copies of Caste Certificate, Rural Certificate, Physically Handicapped Certificate, Project Displaced Persons Certificate, Ex-Serviceman/Discharge Certificate if reservation under such category/quota is claimed.
  • Crossed Indian Postal Order / Demand Draft for the required amount.
  • Affidavit in case of any variations of name/spelling, overwriting recorded in the certificates.
  • Character Certificates to be enclosed to the application shall be from two respectable persons viz., Gazetted Officers / MP / MLA.

The applications which are not accompanied by the required certificates will be summarily rejected.

  1. Candidates selected shall produce Originals of all the required Testimonials and Certificates when called for interview/selection.
  2. The various terms and conditions to be fulfilled in respect of recruitment are subject to the provisions of the KPTCL Recruitment and Promotion Regulations and other relevant rules in force from time to time.
  3. Postal address furnished in the application is final and any correspondence will be sent to the address furnished in the application. No correspondence for change of address at a later date will be entertained.
  4. Application downloaded from the KPTCL official website: www.kptcl.com OR Typed/ printed applications in the format prescribed herein may be used. Newspaper cutting or Xerox/Photostat copies of the newspaper cutting shall not be used as application and such applications are liable to be rejected. Xerox/Photostat copies of photos shall not be affixed to the application.
  5. The envelope containing the application and enclosures should be superscribed in bold letters as APPLICATION FOR THE POST OF ……………………………… UNDER BACKLOG VACANCIES FOR SC/ST CANDIDATES.
  6. Candidates desirous of applying for more than one post should submit separate applications in respect of each post.
  7. For filling vacancies reserved for Ex-servicemen, the list of candidates sponsored by the Director of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement, Karnataka and Deputy Director, Department of Sainik Welfare and Resettlement will also be considered for selection.
  8. The candidates appointed under this notification are not entitled to free supply of electricity.
  9. The selected candidates are liable to be posted to any of the offices of the Corporation in the State of Karnataka.

 

XVI DISQUALIFICATION FOR APPOINTMENT:

  1. Canvassing in any form for appointment will be a disqualification.
  2. No applicant for appointment to the above posts in the KPTCL shall be eligible for appointment if he / she is at the time of his / her application is in permanent or temporary employment in any other department or Government or under any other authority or organisation and as made the application without the consent of the Head of Department or the Government, or of the authority or Organisation as the case may be under whom he / she is employed. Such candidate should forward the application through the present employee duly enclosing the "No Objection Certificate" obtained from them.
  3. No person who is or has been convicted of an offence involving moral turpitude or who is or has been temporarily debarred or disqualified by the Union or any State Public Service Commission from appearing for examinations or selections conducted by it shall ordinarily be appointed to the Corporation service, unless the Corporation after review of all the circumstances considers him / her suitable for such appointment.
  4. Candidates who have furnished false information in the application are liable to be debarred from entry into or dismissed from service without any notice.
  5. Corporation decision in the matter relating to eligibility of the candidates will be final and binding on the candidate.
